While there is much to the debate between chemical or all physical sunscreens, we all agree that any sunscreen is better than no sunscreen. Whether you’re on the beach in bright sunny weather, taking a walk on a cloudy day, or working from home with the windows open – it’s important to include SPF in your daily routine.
I love a good all physical sunscreen, right now I’m using the iS Clinical Eclipse SPF 50. It dries down to a velvet matte finish and works as a great base for makeup.

There are things that I like about both chemical and physical sunscreens. I tend to really invest in a high quality sunscreen for my face, neck, décolleté, and tattoos. A few favorites are the Coola Sun Silk Drops, the La Roche Posay Anthelios SPFs, and iS Clinical Extreme Protect SPF 40. For the rest of my body I’ll typically use the spray SPF from Trader Joe’s as an attempt to be economically mindful – they have both physical and chemical sunscreen options now that are very affordable.

My favorite sunscreen at the moment is the Innisfree Daily UV Defense Sunscreen in the white tube. I like how lightweight but hydrating it is for my dry skin.

The best sun protection is the one you’re going to wear and reapply regularly. It can be especially hard for darker fitzpatricks to find an SPF that doesn’t leave a white cast, so when you find one that works for you – use it. I think Elta MD makes a really great broad spectrum sunscreen, their UV Clear comes in both tinted and non-tinted.

I love the Pipette Mineral Sunscreen – it’s an all physical formula with SPF 50. It applies really easily, isn’t sticky, absorbs quickly, and has a very lightweight finish.
